Reflecting on the Week - 15th March
Distance: 47 km
Time: 4:11
Elevation: 295 m
Fastest pace: 3:13/km
Max HR: 178 bpm
This was a bit disjointed with a build and then quick deload. With a lactate and VO2 test booked for Tuesday I did keep the back end of the week a touch gentler. The standout was a 20 km run that “could have felt easier” but still delivered - basically my descending splits session with a shorter lead in..
Midweek I had a classic session of 3 x 8 minutes that definitely lived up to the “ouch” in the title. Pace-wise that was the sharpest work of the week and a nice reminder that there is still a bit of speed in the system even while we are building the big engine for ultra distance.
Logistics was the real theme of the week though. Fletch is now officially on board as crew for Badwater, which is great news. There’s a lot of admin building, sorting more flights and lots of kit requests. With the lab testing coming up, we will have better data to plug into those plans, so this week was about laying quiet foundations on and off the road.
